LUNAFEST short film festival returns to The Arcada Theater

A FILM FESTIVAL FOR A CAUSE Short Films By, For, About Women Hosted by the Zonta Club of St. Charles-Geneva-Batavia

LUNAFEST, the fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women's issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities, will be hosted by Zonta Club of St. Charles-Geneva-Batavia at The Arcada Theater in St. Charles on January 16, 2018. This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers and is consistent with the Zonta mission of Empowering Women Through Service and Advocacy. LUNAFEST was created with two goals: • To support and nurture the inspiring and often unsung work of talented women filmmakers • To raise funds and awareness for causes that help, empower and give a voice to women from all walks of life 100 percent of all LUNAFEST net proceeds are donated to charity, with 15 percent going to Chicken & Egg Pictures that supports women nonfiction filmmakers whose artful and innovative storytelling catalyzes social change, and 85 percent going to support the mission and work of Zonta: to empower women and families locally and globally. When you attend a LUNAFEST, you not only get a night out with great films, but you also get to make a difference in the lives of real women.
