Description:

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra (ESO) Percussion Ensemble will present Around the World with Percussion at the Geneva Public Library, 127 James Street, on Wednesday, August 16 from 10:30-11:30 am. This free program will circle the globe and visit countries around the world. The ensemble shows-off the incredible variety of instruments that make up the percussion family, and introduces children to music characteristic of the countries they visit. Seating is limited. Tickets are issued to Geneva Public Library District cardholders first, and to additional guests on the day of the program, if still available. Contact the Library at 630.232.0780 or geneva.library@gpld.org to reserve your tickets or for more information. To learn more about the ESO, visit ElginSymphony.Org.

ESO musicians have instruments that travel…and can bring a performance adventure to your school or library! ESO Traveling Ensemble programs reinforce the goals for Illinois Learning Standards in the Fine Arts. Many current academic studies reinforce the theory that listening to and studying music develop the ability to think creatively. Schools with strong music programs and commitment to the arts have higher rates of graduation and better standardized test scores. To engage an ESO Traveling Ensemble to perform at your school or library, call or email Wendy Evans, Director of Community Engagement and Orchestra Personnel at w.evans@elginsymphony.org or 847-888-0404 ex. 238.
