Sign up for 5K Fun Run/Walk and Health Fair 2017
The Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians (ILANP) will host the second annual 5K Fun Run/Walk at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in Lombard to raise awareness about naturopathic medicine on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 9 a.m.
The event, “Take A Healthy Step and Support Naturopathic Medicine in Illinois,” will raise funds to build awareness and support advocacy efforts for naturopathic medicine. ILANP recently introduced legislation, which would grant naturopathic physicians licensure to practice in Illinois and therefore ensure greater access to safe, regulated naturopathic medicine.
This year, the 5K event will feature a health fair that includes short lectures and easy-to-follow DIY demonstrations about natural approaches to staying in optimal health. This portion of the event is free and open to the public.
“We have gathered some of ILANP’s best naturopathic medicine experts to provide these informative and hands-on talks,” said NUHS naturopathic medicine faculty member Dr. Lorinda Sorensen, ND, LAc. “The health fair is a great way to learn what naturopathic medicine is all about.”
Presenters include NUHS faculty members and naturopathic physicians, Dr. Fraser Smith, Dr. Lorinda Sorensen, Dr. Thor Connor and Dr. Crystal Foresman-Landers, a local health care provider. After the run/walk, health talks start at 10:30 a.m., and will feature:
Natural Medicine for Sports Recovery
12 Steps to Maximize Brain Function
Making and Using Herbal Infused Waters
Fermented Foods for Everyday Living
The 5K run will begin at National University circling through Madison Meadow Park back to the university. Participants can sign up as an individual or in a group and can create a fundraising page. Registration is $35 before May 21 and $40 afterwards.
