Fostering recreation and open space initiatives that enhance residents' quality of life, The Batavia Parks Foundation was incorporated in 2004 as a 501(c)3 organization as a means of enhancing the quality of life in the Batavia community through stewardship for open space, parks, facilities, cultural activities, and recreational programs. Among our objectives is to partner with other community organizations towards common projects. Clearly defined by our mission statement, "To foster recreation and open space initiatives that enhance residents' quality of life", The Batavia Parks Foundation also serves: To act as a fundraising and investment mechanism in support of the mission. To explore and create partnerships. To be inclusive of all segments of the community. To advocate and develop responsible stewardship of the communities, parks and open spaces. To promote and support recreational programs and services. To be a resource for the Batavia Park District Board of Commissioners. We are responsible for the creation of the Spacenet at Engstrom Park, Peg Bond Fine Arts Pavilion, and boardwalk at the Riverwalk in downtown Batavia. Additionally, the foundation funded the equipment for the West Main disc golf course and bulldog statue at the Bark Park and annually funds a scholarship for a high school senior pursuing a career in support of our mission.
