Chicago Chapter of Blue Star Mothers Celebrates 5 years of Supporting Our Nation's Military

Chicagoland Blue Star Mothers IL6: Celebrating Five Years of supporting our nation’s military service members and our veterans!

Chicagoland Blue Star Mothers IL6, the local chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America Inc., is proud to announce the fifth anniversary of our Chapter Charter! Our founding members felt an overwhelming urge to “do something” as their sons and daughters answered the call to military service. Scouring the internet, our first president found the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc website and was drawn to their mission: To provide support to service members, veterans, and their families while promoting patriotism. After further investigation, she learned there was not a Chicagoland Chapter.   Encouraged by representatives from the Blue Star Mothers National organization to find other like-minded women and start a new chapter, that’s what she did! In January of 2016, our chapter received our official Charter from our National organization.

The Chicagoland Blue Star Mothers chapter has contributed greatly over the past five years. We have grown from those first five founding members to be an award winning chapter with over 40 members and associate members, allowing us to help more troops and veterans while also having more support for each other. We look forward to continuing to grow. Each member is a military mother and every associate member is a family member of someone who is serving. Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. is a Congressionally Chartered 501(c)3 Veteran Service Organization with over 200 chapters and over 6000 members across the country.

Our mission remains the same - to support our troops, our veterans, and each other. We accomplish this through our volunteerism and fundraising, while supporting organizations that benefit our active and retired military service men and women. We speak at and attend community events, we hold care package collection drives for our deployed troops, we work with community partners to grow our programs and serve our community, we work with other Veteran Service Organizations to serve our veterans, we are an active member of Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce, we host events like our Annual Battle of the Branches Chili Cook Off to raise funds for veteran causes and our mission, we hold monthly meetings to organize our projects and events and most importantly to support each other, the list goes on and on.

Membership is open to all mothers of service members from any branch of service and to mothers of veterans. Associate memberships are also available. If you are interested in attending a meeting to see what we are about or in joining, please contact our president at or at 630-447-8173.
