Batavia - From Midwestern landscapes and animal portraits to impressionistic paintings, local artists are sharing their works in a showing entitled, “A Flair for Painting-Presented by Four Dynamic Artists.”

The public is invited to see the works, which are showcased at Covenant Living at the Holmstad Town Center Gallery and is open from 9am-5pm through Sunday, August 25. There is an artists’ reception on July 27, where those who attend are able to meet the artists. The four will also host a special gallery walk and demo presentation on August 1.

The artists share an interest in the enjoyment and creation of art using the oil pastel medium. The artists have varying creative backgrounds but became artist friends while taking oil pastel classes together at the Fine Line in St. Charles. While they share in the use of the oil pastel medium, their styles are unique and dynamic.

Deann Alleman, a resident at Covenant Living at the Holmstad, finds inspiration in the natural world to create her quiet and somewhat subtle impressionistic paintings. Carol Kazwick, from Downers Grove, often uses hand-made paper and other unique backgrounds for her paintings reflecting the beauty and history of the Midwest. Lillian Pagni, from Hampshire, is showing her charming animal portraits and Fran Stilwagner, of Geneva, uses nature to create her impressionistic and somewhat abstract paintings. All are members of the Yellow House Artists, a group of Chicagoland artists who work in oil pastel.

Both Events are at Covenant Living at the Holmstad, located at 700 W. Fabyan Parkway in Batavia.
