Batavia - In honor of its 10 Year Anniversary on September 13, Water Street Studios is partnering with 10 local artists with 10 nonprofits to create outdoor, public art murals that illustrate the programs and services that the participating nonprofits offer back to the community. The murals will be on display in the alley leading up to the entrance of Water Street Studios.

The goal of the project is to create an outdoor resource gallery for the community to learn more about leading causes and services in the community while improving the streetscape and public safety on Water Street in downtown Batavia. Murals will be revealed on a monthly basis between October 2019 and August 2020.

“This project is special because these art pieces will reflect one of our community’s strongest features—our commitment to service and taking care of one another,"  Abby Beck, 5th Ward Alderwoman.

Water Street Studios invites artists to use their skills, passion and efforts to support important causes that are directly impacting the community while getting paid for their work. The deadline to submit is midnight, July 15. Visit the online application at waterstreetstudios.org/activate-the-alley-partnership-project

Each selected artist will receive a $1,000 stipend to create a 3ft x 4ft mural. Interested artists can apply online to help make a difference in the Batavia community today. The project is generously supported by the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.
