Waubonsee Community College To Host April Faculty Speaker Series Event and Open House

Sugar Grove – Waubonsee Community College will host the third event in its Faculty Speaker Series on Tuesday, April 9 at 6pm at the Sugar Grove Campus Auditorium, 4S783 IL-47.

Michael Moran, Instructor of Human Services, will discuss the effects of substances on the brain.

Michael Moran is an Instructor of Human Services at Waubonsee Community College. 

Moran holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University and is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in the State of Illinois. He has worked in the field of substance use disorder treatment and prevention in a variety of roles since 1981, including 17 years as the Executive Director at Breaking Free, Inc., an outpatient treatment and prevention agency in Aurora. He has also served in a variety of clinical, supervisory and staff development roles at both outpatient and residential treatment settings, along with volunteering for several nonprofit organizations.

Want to learn more about Waubonsee Community College? Visit the Open House at the Sugar Grove Campus, which is also free and open to the public. On Saturday, April 6, from 1-3pm, visitors can learn about the college through staff, visit a workshop and view hands-on demonstrations and experiments in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). 

Visitors should meet at the Field House on the north side of campus, where they will learn about Waubonsee and get information about the day’s activities. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try to score on the Chiefs’ men’s soccer team goalies.
