Jan 02, 2019 11:30AM ● By Hannah Ott

Algonquin, IL - Looking to recycle your holiday lights? The Village of Algonquin has you covered with its open-to-the-public holiday lights recycling initiative.

From now until January 21, simply put your unusable or unwanted lights in the container at the Ganek Municipal Center lobby, 2200 Harnish Dr. in Algonquin. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.

Items that will be accepted include mini-lights, C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords of any length. Be sure there are no plastic casings, hooks, tinsel or other materials on the lights. Please note that household light bulbs, floodlights, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) or fluorescent bulbs will not be accepted.

Elgin Recycling will recycle the lights collected at Ganek Municipal Center and help reduce waste sent to landfills this season.
