Northern Illinois, IL - Local Girl Scouts will kick-off the 2019 Girl Scout Cookie Program earlier than usual this year with online sales beginning December 17. Digital Cookie 5.0 allows girls to take electronic orders for cookies. Customers have the ability to order and pay for cookies online and have them shipped directly to them with standard shipping fees, delivered by a Girl Scout or donated to the person or organization of their choice. Donations do not have additional handling fees.
If customers would like to have Girl Scout Cookies for holiday giving, they should tell the Girl Scout in their lives to send them an email from their personalized website as soon as possible. Don’t know a Girl Scout? Email firstname.lastname@example.org to be connected to a local entrepreneur who would love to add you to her customer list.
Local Girl Scouts will also take cookie orders in-person and online from January 4-27. Cookies are on sale for $5 per box. The cookie lineup features refreshing Thin Mints, caramel coconut Samoas, peanut butter-stuffed Tagalongs, crunchy Do-si-dos, buttery Trefoils, zesty lemon Savannah Smiles, sweet S’mores and the deliciously gluten-free toffee-chipped Toffee-tastics.
Digital Cookie 5.0: An innovative and educational web-based addition to the cookie program that helps girls run and manage their Girl Scout Cookie businesses online. Now in its fifth year, Digital Cookie brings Girl Scout programming into the future by providing girls with invaluable business and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills that prepare them for next century leadership. During Girl Scout Cookie season, each G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ sets out to sell the popular cookies while also building entrepreneurial and business skills imperative for leadership and future success. All of the net revenue raised—100 percent of it—stays within the Northern Illinois area. Cookie earnings go to power amazing experiences for girls through their programming, while girls and their troops decide how to invest in impactful community projects and personal enrichment opportunities. Skills girls learn in the cookie program also influence later success as data shows more than half, 57%, of Girl Scout alumnae in business say the cookie program was beneficial to skills they possess today, such as money management, goal-setting and public speaking.
