Geneva, IL - Every year, Geneva Chamber of Commerce gives its Member of the Year Award to a person who has enhanced the Chamber and Geneva as a whole through his or her continuing contributions of time and resources during a given year.
This year’s Member of the Year Award went to Eric Ott, who has served the Geneva Chamber in numerous ways throughout 2018 and in previous years. He has been a giant supporter of the Chamber's festivals and events since joining in 2010.
Since Eric became a member, he has consistently been a cheerleader for the Chamber and for Geneva. Without hesitation, he jumped right in during the Christmas Walk, roasting chestnuts and participating in live windows. Three years ago he brought the idea of a 5K Race to Swedish Days. With his enthusiasm, contacts and passion for the sport, the Swedish Days 5K Lopp has increased in attendance each year, making it a must-do during the festival.
Outside of Chamber activities, he and his wife were dancers in Dancing With Geneva Stars, his business holds several fundraisers for local organizations, such as Mooseheart and CASA and he is a strong presence with the Geneva High School Cross Country and Track teams. Additionally, his business is a constant sponsor of local races and runs, including the Healthy Kids’ Running Series.
The Chamber states, "Without members like Eric, the Geneva Chamber could not do what they do. It is with our most sincere gratitude that we present the 2018 Member of the Year Award to Eric Ott of Geneva Running Outfitters."
