Batavia, IL - Residents and the Batavia community will celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Holmstad's Town Center, which was completed and opened in October of 2008. The Town Center is considered the hub of the senior living community that includes multiple spaces for residents including a creative arts center, fitness center, game center, communications center and a multi-purpose room. It is also a space for community organizations. “Many civic groups come here regularly for their meetings and we’re happy to provide them a space to do so,” said Amanda Gosnell, The Holmstad executive director. To celebrate this anniversary, The Holmstad has a number of activities planned for residents this week.

On Wednesday, October 24 from 2-4pm, the Taste of the Holmstad will feature displays in all areas of the Town Center for individuals to tour and see firsthand the lifestyle it provides.

On Monday, October 29 at 10:30am, Batavia Mayor Jeffery Schielke will give a presentation on the history of Batavia and also a bit more about the history of The Holmstad. The presentation will be followed by an 11:30am ribbon cutting with the Batavia Chamber of Commerce for a new “Walk in Love.”

The “Walk in Love” is a fundraiser at The Holmstad in which engraved tribute pavers can be purchased to create a lasting tribute to loved ones. The pavers will be installed in the courtyard just outside of the Town Center. “The courtyard is a well-traveled area on our campus and this is a perfect way to commemorate our Town Center but also leave a lasting legacy at our community," said Gosnell. Proceeds will go to the Benevolent Care Fund used for Holmstad residents, who through no fault of their own, outlive their resources. The fund helps them continue to live at the community. Those seeking more information about the tribute pavers may contact Amada Slaiher, Director of Development at (630) 879-4200.
