Waubonsee has three great events for families

Waubonsee Hosts Family Entertainment Events

 Sugar Grove – Waubonsee Community College will host two family entertainment events in October.

The college’s Community Education Division and the Fox Country Players present Shrek The Musical on Friday, Oct 5 and 12; Saturday, Oct. 6 and 13 and on Sunday, Oct. 7 and 14. Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, this Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure brings all the beloved characters from the film to life on stage. The Friday and Saturday performances start at 7 p.m. and the Sunday performances start at 2 p.m. All performances are in the Auditorium on the Sugar Grove Campus.

On Saturday, Oct. 27, Waubonsee will host comedian-juggler, Marcus Monroe. Monroe is a winner of the prestigious Andy Kaufman Award for original and creative performance by combining innovative juggling with high-energy improvised comedy to create a unique experience for each audience. The performance will be in the Auditorium on the Sugar Grove Campus and will start at 7 p.m.

Waubonsee Hosts Event as Part of Aurora’s First Fridays

 Aurora – Waubonsee Community College will host events on Friday, Oct. 5 as part of First Fridays in downtown Aurora.

The event will be held on the college’s Aurora Downtown Campus and will feature Waubonsee’s art and music programs. The Waubonsee Ceramics Club will have an exhibition featuring the work of students, faculty and staff in the library. Students and staff will also demonstrate the techniques of making ceramic art on the potter’s wheel.

In addition to the art exhibition and demonstration, the Waubonsee Jazz Combo will perform in the campus library. Also, William Estrada, a Chicago street artist, will be demonstrating his silk screening techniques on tee shirts. Shirts will be given free to attendees while supplies last.

Waubonsee offers many ways and opportunities to study art and music. Classes are available for credit, as well as for personal enrichment. Some art classes are available in an 8-week format with classes beginning on Oct. 15. Visit www.waubonsee.edu to learn more and to register for classes.

Waubonsee Offers Trip To White Sox-Cubs Game at Guaranteed Rate Field

 Sugar Grove – Waubonsee Community College is offering a day trip to Chicago’s South Side to enjoy the city’s baseball rivalry.

The trip is on Sunday, Sept.23 and includes transportation to the stadium from the college’s Sugar Grove Campus, a buffet lunch at Turtles Bar and Grill, and a ticket to the game on the first base side, and transportation back to the Sugar Grove Campus.
