Changing Chilrden's Worlds Foundation conference focuses on parent-child relationships

Families are facing many challenges. Schools are affected by limited parent engagement. Many children lack the critical social and pre-literacy skills that are fundamental to their academic success. The rise in crime, violence, drug exposure, stress and trauma are just a few of the adverse childhood experiences that challenge families, schools and society.
On Friday, November 30, 2018, the Changing Children’s Worlds Foundation (CCWF) will convene a community investment educational program designed for professionals in education, mental health, and community leaders. “The Best Start for Families: A Health Equity Approach,” is sponsored in partnership with the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center (CCAC). This conference will focus on strengthening the parent-child relationship to develop essential protective factors and resilience to support parents and children - for life!
Community leaders and professionals engaged with children and families are encouraged to attend. Educational sessions, an interdisciplinary panel, scientific posters and networking opportunities will be available at this event, hosted by Geneva’s Mayor, Kevin R. Burns.
Guests will gain valuable education and training by learning about the intergenerational effects of trauma on families: children and parents/caregivers. Attendees will also learn about the importance of a Health Equity Approach and the power of empathy, community, and empowerment for all families, especially those facing more disadvantages in every community.
The CCAC Executive Director and Family Hope Center Director will also address the importance of prevention against child abuse and neglect.
