Geneva mosquito spraying scheduled for July 9

Jul 09, 2018 08:52AM

Geneva’s mosquito abatement contractor will be spraying an application of insecticide citywide Monday, July 9 to control the adult insect population.

Spraying is scheduled to take place from dusk to dawn starting July 9 into Tuesday, July 10.

Clarke will be using a synthetic treatment that is safe for humans and pets, although people with asthma and other respiratory conditions are advised to stay indoors with their windows closed during the misting application and one hour afterward.

The spraying will be rescheduled if rain or high winds enter the forecast, and an update would be posted on the City’s website at www.geneva.il.us.

Clarke recently identified a West Nile positive mosquito in one of its traps in St. Charles, according to the City of St. Charles. For tips on how to prevent West Nile or any other mosquito-borne illness, visit the department’s website at www.kanehealth.com.
