Geneva Beautification Committee – Passing of the Trowel
Co-Chairs of the Geneva Beautification Committee L to R: Janice Lucchetti, Jena Villarreal, Kathy McNeil and Kristie Dienst
Four long-time Geneva residents, and gardeners in their own
rights, will serve as the new Co-Chairs of the Geneva Beautification Committee
in 2018. Kristie Dienst, Janice
Lucchetti, Kathy McNeil and Jena Villarreal unanimously agreed to take on the
leadership roles passed down to them by Dorothy Flanagan and Sherri Weitl who
served as Co-Chairs for the last twenty years.
“We love this town and our community, and we wanted to see the hard work and dedication Dorothy Flanagan and Sherri Weitl put into beautifying this town continue well into the future,“ stated Kathy McNeil.
Currently, the Geneva Beautification Committee boasts well over one hundred and fifty volunteers that are responsible for planting and maintaining over fifty gardens in downtown Geneva. A core group of about 20 volunteers oversee the daily operations but the majority of the planting and tending is carried out by a dedicated group of residents (even some non-residents), businesses and local organizations.
