WHO: Fox Valley Food for
Health (Food for Health) is a network of adult and teen volunteers committed to
supporting individuals and families dealing with cancer or life-threatening
illness by providing nutrient-rich meals, nutrition education and personal,
caring support. On Friday, October 13 the nonprofit hosts its first annual
Harvest Moon Dance to raise funds so the organization can expand the number of
families supported in the community.
WHAT: The mission of Food for Health is to deliver meals that nourish the severely ill and empower teens by teaching them how to prepare healthy meals and offering them the opportunity to serve those in need. During the school year, adult and teen volunteers prepare, cook and package organic healthy meals after school on Mondays and Tuesdays for three-hour shifts. Adult volunteers deliver meals on Wednesday to families affected by cancer or other serious illness.
WHERE: Eagle Brook Country Club | 2288 Fargo Boulevard, Geneva IL
WHEN: Friday, October 13, 6 PM - 11 PM
WHY: Food for Health has served over 30,000 meals and serves only the tri-cities of Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles. Meals are delivered within a 30 minute radius to the Kane County Fairgrounds, free of charge to over 250 individuals and families affected by cancer or serious illness. In 2016, the group was able to double the amount of meals previously served and, this year has a goal to increase that number by another 40 percent, making an even bigger positive impact in the community.
COST: Tickets cost $150 per person and include cocktail hour with open bar and hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet seasonal sit-down dinner made using recipes from the kitchen at Food for Health, raffle and live auctions as well as Otto Music, Chicago's premier dance band playing favorites from the 80s to present.
