On Fri., Sept. 22 West Aurora High School was a part of ABC Channel 7’s “Friday Flyover,” an event where the station’s news helicopter flies over schools during football season to capture band formations. The live Flyover coverage started at 5:30am and continued until 7am. Channel 7’s Roz Varon was on site to report on the event.

“It was a privilege to be one of the schools they picked,” said Amber Johnson, mom to West Aurora High School senior Hannah Johnson.

Students, staff and parents attended the Flyover and filled in the center of three formations outlined by the High School band. Formations included a WA (West Aurora), a huge star with the words “ABC 7 ROCKS” and the slogan #ALL IN, West Aurora High’s motto for the 2017-18 school year.  Other groups represented at the event included the choir, ROTC, cheerleaders, pom-pom squad and high school athletes.

“The Flyover was a wonderful event, making this West Mama of 10 years so proud of the school, its students and faculty!” Johnson said.
