Downtown Batavia: September & October

Sep 04, 2017 08:30AM ● Published by Ben Scott

Downtown is Everyone’s Neighborhood!

Stay connected to your community as the season changes from Summer to Fall by spending your time at community events in Downtown Batavia! This time of year, we experience the BEST weather (in my opinion), to shop local, enjoy happenings, and even dine along the Fox River right in Downtown Batavia.

If you have a desire to make downtown Batavia the best it can be, please considering joining Batavia MainStreet and giving some of your time as a volunteer during an event or joining one of our many planning committees. Volunteer opportunities can be found on the Downtown Batavia website.

To learn more about the above opportunities, please contact the MainStreet office at 630-761-3528 or visit DowntownBatavia.com.

Dick Diamond and the
Dusters

Downtown Block Party and Taste of Batavia—Sept. 3 from 4 to 9pm, the Riverwalk will come alive as it is transformed into everyone’s neighborhood block party! Dick Diamond and The Dusters are back to rock from 6–9pm. Enjoy $3 tasters from your favorite Batavia eateries and a great variety of beverages too. River City Church will host kid friendly fun including bounce houses, free snow cones, face painting and more. Cross the pedestrian bridge over to River Street to hop back in time with the Boyce BodyWerks Classic Car Show in partnership with Old Gold Cruisers, Pie Bake Off, Pie in Your Face, and hoola hooping competition. The First State Bank and Xfinity Block Party is going to be the place to be for you and your family this Labor Day.

Farmers’ Market—The season is wrapping up, but each remaining week still promises a fresh batch of local shopping options. Head out and enjoy the Farmers’ Market on River St. every Saturday, from 8am–12pm. Grab some breakfast, listen to music, shop fresh and live local. On Sat., Sept. 16 and Oct. 21, the market will feature guests from the Artisan Collective.

Batavia Oktoberfest—Batavia MainStreet brings Oktoberfest to the Fox Valley region this Oct. 6 & 7 on North River St.! Join us as we present a traditional Oktoberfest event in our beautiful river community which will feature authentic German food, music, entertainment and of course, beer! Family friendly activities all day Saturday and official Sam Adams stein hoisting contests on Friday night and Saturday night. All Batavia Oktoberfest happenings will be hosted on North River St. between Wilson St. and Spring St.

BatFest—Be a part of Batavia’s annual Halloween themed family event on Sat., Oct. 28 at the Batavia Riverwalk from 10am to 2pm. BatFest includes, downtown Trick-or-Treating, Mothers’ Club Parade, Batavia Library Storytime, costume contest, pet costume contest, art and games for free family fun. Make sure to check out the unique fun of the pumpkin carving battles and pumpkin rolling down Houston Street. New this year, our downtown theater, Albright Theatre, will host theatre hikes on the Riverwalk Boardwalk.

FAWN Gifts during Second Fridays

Second Fridays in Downtown Batavia—Engage with and enjoy downtown Batavia during Second Fridays each month; a night full of food, art, music, fun and so much more! Second Fridays are an interactive and vibrant experience around downtown Batavia working to compliment the monthly art gallery opening at Water Street Studios.

Businesses within the downtown area will offer nontraditional programming in their spaces on every second Friday of the month from 6pm to 9pm. Whether it is a live performance, crafting demo, a book signing or one of the many other programs being presented around town, there is something for everyone at Second Fridays!
