The Batavia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently announced that it has reluctantly accepted the resignation of Special Event and Marketing Coordinator Lindsey Williams. Lindsey, who became Special Event and Marketing Coordinator in October 7, 2015, notified the Chamber Board and Staff in early May that she would be leaving her position effective July 1, 2017. Lindsey really struggled with this decision but felt it was necessary. Her husband’s business growth has been tremendous and in lieu of hiring someone to work for them, the logical step was for Lindsey to work with her husband. The Board appreciates the positive impact Lindsey has had on the Chamber during her tenure as Special Event and Marketing Coordinator. She has improved the quality of ongoing Chamber activities and helped create new and innovative programs. The Board wishes her well in her new endeavors.
As a result of Lindsey’s resignation, the Chamber Board is pleased to announce the appointment of new Special Event and Marketing Coordinator, Catherine Fitch. Catherine has been an active member of the Batavia community since moving here with her husband Jack in April, 2000. Catherine and her husband are raising two children in Batavia, her oldest is a 2016 Batavia High School graduate who now attends the University of Iowa and her youngest will be entering his Junior year at Batavia High School. Catherine started volunteering at Hoover-Wood Elementary School in the classroom and eventually became the Co-PTO President. Soon thereafter, she joined the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence and is now currently serving her 3rd and final year as the Chairperson. Catherine was instrumental in planning and coordinating major fundraising events for the Foundation, including their golf outings and the Bowling Casino Night Events. Her sons have been very active in Batavia athletics so that drew Catherine to help the Boosters as the Corn Boil Chairperson, as well as, being the parent liaison for the BHS basketball team. Catherine received her BA in Communications from Michigan State University and has professionally been employed in the health insurance field for the majority of her career. Catherine hopes to parlay her volunteer event planning and insurance customer service skills to achieve success in her new role with the Chamber of Commerce.
