ST. CHARLES, IL –Millions watched in 2015 as CBS' 60 Minutes unveiled a longtime Russian spy living on American soil. On June 24 & 25, that spy appears live at Christ Community Church in St. Charles.
An East German recruited by the KGB during the Cold War, Jack Barsky carried out undercover Russian operations in the U.S. for ten years. After finally revealing his true identity on 60 Minutes, Barsky released his autobiography, Deep Undercover, this spring. In it, he tells his story of gut-wrenching choices, appalling betrayals, and the secret life he lived for years without getting caught.
During his “My Life as a KGB Spy” appearance at Christ Community, Barsky will be interviewed live on stage about the secret life of a man without a country and the untold Cold War story no one ever expected him to tell. The interview will be conducted three times over the June 24 & 25 weekend (Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 9 and 11am ) at Christ Community’s St. Charles Campus, located at the northwest corner of Randall Road and Bolcum Road in St. Charles.
The interview will also be shown via livestream at Christ Community’s Aurora, DeKalb, and Streamwood Campuses during their regular weekend services. While the Sunday service at all campuses will have the normal feel of a Sunday church service, the Saturday night services at both the St. Charles and DeKalb Campuses will be perfect for a night out—complete with popular music of the Cold War era.
There is no charge or ticket to attend any of the services. All are welcome.
