Blue Goose Market hosts first annual donut eating contest

May 30, 2017 (St. Charles, IL) - Blue Goose Market, known for their award winning home-made donuts, will host their first annual Donut Eating Contest in celebration of "Donut Day" to raise money for the Salvation Army. The donut eating contest will be held on Friday, June 2 from 7:30 to 9am at Blue Goose Market located at 300 S 2nd Street in St. Charles.
Contest entrants are asked to raise $250 for the Salvation Army in the Tri-Cities to participate in the donut eating contest. The "Donut Champion Award" will be presented to the contestant who eats the most donuts in a five minute time frame at the competition. National Donut Day, celebrated the first Friday of June, was first created in honor of The Salvation Army "Doughnut Girls," who served along the front lines during WWI & WWII, giving soldiers free coffee and doughnuts. The Salvation Army commemorates this occasion by raising support for their continued ministries to families and individuals in need in our local community. The Salvation Army provides hunger programs services to the Tri-Cities.
"As the oldest family owned and operated retail business in St. Charles, we are always looking for ways to bring the community together for a good cause," said Owner Paul Lencioni. "Participating in National Donut Day and hosting a donut eating contest to raise money and awareness for the Salvation Army in the Tri-Cities was a no brainer."
