Garden Party to benefit Fox Valley Hands of Hope
Fox Valley Hands of Hope’s (FVHH) highly anticipated spring fundraiser is right around the corner! Garden Party 2017 will be held on Fri., May 26 at the Q Center in St. Charles starting at 10am. FVHH’s staff and Garden Party volunteers have been working for months to make this event as unforgettable as ever. This event includes raffle showcases, an extraordinary silent and live auction, a delicious lunch and a preview of the latest fashions by Jeans and a Cute Top Shop and GymChic.
Not only will you have a fabulous time at the event, but you will be helping FVHH to help people who are truly in need. This event raises more than one-third of the agency’s budget and allows FVHH to reach out to those experiencing grief and life-threatening illness, providing all of their services free of charge.
Tickets for the Garden Party are $70 and can be purchased online at fvhh.net or by calling 630-232-2233. You can also purchase tickets by stopping by the FVHH office at 200 Whitfield Drive in Geneva.
Geneva Beautification Volunteers needed
The Geneva Beautification Committee is recruiting gardeners of all ages to join in the garden preparation and second planting of the season. New volunteers should report to the corner of S. Third and James St., in front of the Geneva Post Office at 8am on Sat., May 20. They will be given a garden location that could use their help. Volunteers who have already been assigned to a garden can report directly to their garden and begin planting the flowers that have been delivered to their area.
Volunteers are asked to bring garden gloves, pruning shears, rakes, brooms, shovels and trowels. Since the flowers enjoy a slight sprinkling of showers, the planting will continue unless there is a thunderstorm. If rain delays the planting, the rain date is Sun., May 21 beginning at 12:30pm. For more information about the Geneva Beautification Committee and to learn how to join in the fun, call Dorothy Flanagan at 630-208-0279 (evenings) or Sherri Weitl at 630-232-7494 (daytime).
