Don’t miss Maple Sugaring Days

Creek Bend Nature Center’s annual celebration of spring, Maple Sugaring Days, takes place March 11–12 from 1–4pm at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles. Naturalists from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County teach you how to tap a maple tree. Watch sap simmer over an open fire as it thickens to syrup. Join a “Sugarin’ Time” hike to learn to distinguish maples from other trees. Bring the whole family for this fun, free program. Friendly Seniors’ monthly luncheon is March 8

Geneva Friendly Seniors will hold their next monthly luncheon on Wed., Mar. 8 from 12:30–3pm at the Sunset Community Center, 710 Western Ave. The fee for the luncheon is $8 per person ($10 per person after March 3). All luncheons are on the second Wednesday of the month. Geneva Friendly Seniors is open to those ages 50+ who reside in Geneva or the surrounding communities. Join the Fox Valley Laughter Yoga Circle

The Fox Valley Laughter Yoga Circle has been laughing together for six years. The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 6–7pm at the Chesapeake Commons Clubhouse, 1490 Geneva Dr., Geneva. There are many benefits including increased health, reduced stress and an improved outlook. The Fox Valley Laughter Yoga Circle is free to join. Come to the Western Avenue School PTO clothing and toy sale Mar. 10

The Western Avenue Elementary School PTO clothing and toy sale will be held on Fri., Mar. 10 from 6–9pm and Sat., Mar. 11 from 8–11am. No strollers or children under 10 are allowed at the sale Friday night. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted, and admission is free. Western Avenue Elementary School is located at 1500 Western Ave, Geneva.

5th annual Find a Cure for Cancer Scavenger Hunt takes place March 10

The 5th annual Find a Cure for Cancer Scavenger Hunt is Fri., March 10 in downtown Batavia to benefit LivingWell Cancer Resource Center. All teams arrive at LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva at 6:30pm for check-in, and then travel to downtown Batavia where the scavenger hunt begins at 7:30pm.

The scavenger hunt ends at 9:15pm at Pal Joey’s. Prizes awarded to the first place team, best costume and best team spirit. A raffle and silent auction will follow with pizza and appetizers. All participants receive a swag bag from local businesses. To participate in the scavenger hunt you will need a team of four, costumes, team name, cell phone and a general sense of the downtown Batavia area.

Lazarus House holds volunteer orientation April 22
