It’s not every day that Jamie Lee Curtis walks into your school.
The accomplished author and actor visited H.C. Storm Elementary School on September 22 to share her new book by Workman Publishing, This is Me: A Story of Who We Are & Where We Came from. The picture book teaches children about immigration.
Curtis talked to students about her film and publishing careers and how she’s now written 11 children’s books.
“The secret is that anyone can write a book as long as you have ideas,” she said, offering encouragement to all H.C. Storm students. “If you can think, you can be a writer.”
What was really interesting about Curtis is how quickly she connected with students. If she wasn’t already an author, actress, photographer, mom, and probably many of other things, she might want to consider teaching. She definitely knows how to captivate and inspire an audience, and share her knowledge.
Nearing the end of her visit, which was sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop and coordinated by H.C. Storm LRC Director Diane Kispert, Curtis read her new book to students.
