Geneva residents interested in running for a seat on the City Council in 2017 can find a candidate guide posted on the City’s website.
The guide provides election information on how to file for candidacy, as well as all required forms, under the “For Residents” tab at geneva.il.us. Nominating petitions may not be circulated prior to Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The positions for mayor, city clerk, treasurer as well as one seat in Wards 1 through 5 are up for election next year. Each seat carries a four-year term.
Candidates can file their petitions from 8pm and 5pm Monday to Friday between Dec. 12 and Dec. 19 at Geneva City Hall, 109 James St.
The candidates will run in the April 4, 2017 Consolidated Election. For more election information, visit the Kane County Election Commission’s website at kanecountyelections.org.
