Every person travels a unique path along their life’s journey. At a recent Geneva Women in Business luncheon (a monthly event sponsored by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce) four attendees were randomly selected to share a little of their personal and professional journeys.

Renee Phillips

Renee Phillips is a successful financial representative for Northwestern Mutual. She did her undergraduate and graduate studies at Lewis University. With five daughters, one step daughter, a step son and two grandchildren, Renee has lived a journey that is rich and rewarding both personally and professionally. She enjoys golf, biking, going to the gym…and, of course, spending time with family. Renee and her husband Daniel reside in Geneva.

Deb French

Deb French spent a successful career in corporate publishing, event planning and B to B marketing along her journey leading to her own business, Write Hand Marketing & Communications. “I started Write Hand in April of 2015. My mission is to help entrepreneurs in very small businesses build market share through social media, website and local marketing campaigns.” Deb is a St. Charles High School graduate and has a BA in French from Illinois State University. She resides in St. Charles with her husband, David, who also owns a business in St. Charles.

Karen Hollis

What started as a simple hobby in jewelry design took Karen Hollis on a professional journey that even she never predicted. Today, K. Hollis Jewelers in Batavia is one of the largest and most successful jewelers in Kane County. If you haven’t been there you might want to stop in to see some of the incredible pieces that Karen has designed and have a glass of wine at their very impressive Wine Bar. Karen attended Eastern Illinois University, and then University of Phoenix for her graduate work. Traveling, music and cooking are her favorite pastimes. Karen lives in Batavia with her husband Rob. They have two grown children and two pet dogs.

Debbi Leoni
