Batavia Access Television has been covering community events in and around Batavia for 35 years. BATV is mostly funded by the franchise agreement between Comcast and the City of Batavia, of that agreement, BATV is allocated only 40% of the money. About a third comes from a state franchise between AT&T and the State of Illinois. BATV relies on sponsorships and donations to balance the remainder of their budget.

A Board of Directors operates BATV. Batavia Public School District 101 is represented by Tom Shields, who is the Divisional Coordinator for Humanities at Batavia High School. Shields is one of six ex officio members from the City of Batavia, BPS101, Batavia Park District, Batavia Public Library, Batavia Township, and the Batavia Chamber of Commerce. Five community members are elected to at large positions for a three-year term. There are two employees at BATV, including Jim Dillenburg, Director of Operations, and Jen Brens, Program Director.

Batavia Access Television and the Batavia Public School District 101 have been close partners since 1999. In the summer of 1999, BATV moved its studio and office into Batavia High School. We have worked together as partners to build a wonderful community studio, video production classes at BHS, and programming for Batavia’s community. BATV has filmed hundreds, if not thousands, of Batavia Public Schools meetings, events and sports. Some of the most-watched programming on BATV comes from covering high school events such as varsity football, BHS Graduation, music concerts, the BHS Improv Troupe, and more. You can find BPS101 Board Meetings and other District news and events at mybatv.com and tune into Comcast channel 17 (public) or channel 10 (government), AT&T U-Verse channel 99 and select Batavia, or video on demand at mybatv.com. In January 2016, BATV added podcasts of government meetings to mybatv.com and iTunes. BATV is proud of the relationship with BPS101 and looks forward to the future.
