Participants will learn a few dance steps and an easy-to-follow routine from a Moves Dance Studio instructor. Parents are invited to watch the dance at 10:40am and 11:40am, respectively.

Fitness is important for babies, too! Join us for tips on how to make exercise fun for you and your little one. Stay, play, and meet other babies and their caregivers. Space is limited. Please show your Batavia Public Library card at the Youth Services Desk to receive your entry ticket.

Learn how to play chess! Learn what the pieces are called, how they move, and basic strategy for playing the game. Once you have completed this 4-week session, you are welcome to join Chess Knight on Tuesday evenings and play with other chess fans.

Use the Library’s Lego blocks to make a creation for display in the Library. Space is limited; Batavia Public Library card required. Children ages 6 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Young readers will be partnered with Junior Volunteers for approximately one hour of reading. This program focuses on book-sharing rather than tutoring. Please register for each date your child will attend.
Paws for Tales

Children are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a specially trained therapy dog. The goal of Paws for Tales is to create a positive, non-threatening, fun environment in which reading aloud is enjoyed. Register for a 15-minute time slot. Due to limited space and the popularity of this program, we are inviting participants to register for only one of the two dates offered in June. Presented by the Naperville Area Humane Society.

Through books, games, and experiments, participants explore a science and nature topic. Each participant will receive a take-home activity.

Join us for snacks, games, and book-related banter. You can talk about books you’ve read and we’ll tell you about some you might like. You don’t have to read anything in particular, just come to enjoy book-related activities.
American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course

A 7½-hour training course in which students learn basic babysitting skills and how to deal with emergencies. Participants must attend entire session. Due to the popularity of this program, a lottery drawing will be held. Lottery registration for the June 22 class begins May 16, with the lottery drawing held on June 8. Lottery registration for the July 6 class begins June 13, with the lottery drawing held on June 24. Priority given to Batavia Public Library cardholders. The course is sponsored by the Batavia Public Library Foundation.

Professional cartoonist Mark Anderson shares his cartooning techniques and guides students as they create their own drawings. Students can learn to draw expressive faces, write jokes for cartoons, and sketch bodies in motion. Templates will be provided for students to use and take home.

Read for the WIN!

Children from birth through middle school are invited to join Summer Reading Club 2016. Registration begins May 23. The first day to bring reading logs back to the Library is June 4. Be part of the reading team at Batavia Public Library this summer.
