Situated on the banks of the Fox River, Downtown Batavia is the
perfect neighborhood for outdoor recreation this Summer. As the weather warms
up and the sun continues to shine, the Fox River Trail Bike Path becomes home
to hundreds and thousands of cyclists, runners, walkers and wildlife. The bike
path gives people from Batavia as well as other communities the perfect
connection into Downtown Batavia, and allows them to explore all of our local
businesses and other offerings.
Join us for this recreation adventure that begins with a moderate to easy 30-mile bike ride lead by Batavia bike shop All Spoked Up and is followed by a 1¼ hour post-ride stretch in Shine’s beautiful riverfront yoga studio. Enjoy a healthy power rebuilding light breakfast from Limestone Coffee and Tea between the two.
There is a $25 fee for each of the Shining Spokes events. The first event will be held on May 7 with three other events following on June 11, Aug. 27 and Sept. 24. Registration for this event can be found at just-shine.com.
Batavia Farmers’ Market-
The Batavia Farmers’ Market is a Batavia MainStreet program.
Every Saturday morning beginning June 4 from 8am until 12pm, River St. is the place to be. With over 30 regular vendors this year, shoppers will have a great variety of local products to choose from. The third Saturday of each month the market invites the Artisan Collective down to River Street to sell their handcrafted wares.
Back by popular demand is the free yoga hosted by Shine, FocusOm and the Batavia Park District. From 8am until 9am each Saturday in June, July and August community members are invited to join in a free yoga class right near the Batavia Farmers’ Market.
In partnership with both Batavia United Way and Batavia Kiwanis, the market is excited to yet again offer a free kids activity tent each week during the market. Activities at this tent range from kids photography to craft activities to demos by local sports teams. Children will love this feature.
New to the Batavia Farmers’ Market this year will be the ability to accept SNAP/Link Card benefits. In partnership with the LinkUp Illinois and Experimental Station, Batavia MainStreet is proud to offer access to fresh and local foods to residents. Be on the lookout for more information and community education opportunities about this program.
