Deerpath Rd. bridge
The City of Batavia will be replacing and widening the existing Deerpath Rd. bridge at Mill Creek utilizing IDOT’s Surface Transportation Program (STP)—Bridges funds, previously called Bridge Replacement or Rehabilitation Program (BRRP). The cost sharing for this project is 80% IDOT and 20% city. The project includes replacing the existing overlaying pavement, widening the existing structure to accommodate both a sidewalk (west side) and a bike path (east side) on the bridge, and resurfacing the approaches.
For the duration of this project, Deerpath Rd. will be closed between Main St. and Deerpath Rd./Saupp Dr., while still allowing access to Holy Cross and the residence off Deerpath. A detour route will redirect traffic to Wade Ln. just to the west of Deerpath. The detour will be signed from Wade to eastbound Hapner to eastbound Saupp and back to Deerpath. Please exercise caution around the construction area.
Construction is anticipated to begin the week of April 11 and, weather permitting, be completed by Labor Day. Follow the project at cityofbatavia.net/projects Any additional questions regarding this project can be directed to the Engineering Department Project Manager Andrea Podraza at email@example.com or 630-454-2757.
2016 sidewalk and curb replacement program
The city’s sidewalk and curb replacement program is comprised of walks that are sunken or risen more than 1" or more between sections, broken or separated into three or more pieces, or 50% or more of the surface deteriorated. Please see the program’s webpage for more detailed information on the process at cityofbatavia.net/projects. Residents whose drive access will be affected will be notified by door hanger a few days prior. Improvements will take place between April 15 and June 15.
2016 street program
The city anticipates work will begin on its street resurfacing program in early June and continue through the summer. For more information on the street program please go to cityofbatavia.net/projects.
2016 E. Wilson St. resurfacing project
In 2013, the city applied for and received Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) funding for the resurfacing of E. Wilson St. The project will take place between Raddant Rd. and Kirk Rd. and will include road base failure repairs, concrete curb and gutter repairs, sidewalk repairs, ADA compliant sidewalk ramp construction, and asphalt resurfacing between Raddant Rd. and Kirk Rd. The work is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2016.
Temporary lane closures will be required intermittently during the course of construction and will impact the flow of traffic. Please be careful in work zones. If possible avoid the work areas. If you need to travel through the area please slow down.
2016 E. Wilson St. sidewalk construction project
In 2015, the city applied for and received Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for the construction of a new sidewalk on E. Wilson St. between Woodland Hills Rd. and Kirk Rd. The project will take place on the north side by Batavia Apartments between Woodland Hills Rd. and Kirk Rd. The work consists of selected tree removal, excavation, curb repairs, concrete sidewalk, ADA compliant sidewalk ramp construction, and landscape restoration. The work is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2016.
