It is a “Grand Old Flag” and Batavia invites singers to join a Patriotic
Pop-Up Chorus to perform at the Batavia 100th Anniversary of Flag Day
Celebration on Tuesday, June 14.
The performance will take place at the Peg Bond Center, 151 N. Island Ave., along the Batavia Riverwalk, which will sparkle with U.S. flags and 1,777 luminarias. Anyone over the age of 15 is welcome to join the chorus, regardless of where you reside. There will be one rehearsal at the United Methodist Church, 8 N. Batavia Ave., at 7pm on June 13.
Directing the chorus is Gregor King, currently a music teacher in the Dekalb School District and a graduate of Batavia High School. King also sings with two professional choirs, St. Charles Singers, and Cor Cantiamo. Previously, King organized and directed the Cambridge Lakes Community Choir.
“We’re calling this a Patriotic Pop-Up Chorus since we will only have one rehearsal,” said King. “It should be a great opportunity for singers to come together, enjoy singing some new music and have fun doing it.”
Come on out and help create a fun and surprising patriotic element to the night's festivities.
