For the 30th
year in a row, the City of St. Charles’ Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
was awarded the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in
Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). A
representative from the Illinois GFOA will present an award recognizing this
achievement at the May 2, 2016, City Council meeting, 7pm, 2 E. Main St.
Former Director of Finance and Administration Larry Maholland will be in
attendance as part of the recognition. Maholland initiated application for the
award during his tenure and also served as the first City Administrator.
The Certificate of Achievement program was established in 1946. The program encourages and assists governments to prepare financial reports of the highest quality for the benefit of citizens and others with a vital interest in a government’s finances. The program has gained widespread recognition as the premier indicator of excellence in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“The City of St. Charles is committed to following fiscally prudent policies and maintaining transparency and accountability,” said Christopher Minick, Director of Finance. “Our financial documents are always available online for anyone to access.” This latest award is for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2015.
