The Geneva Film Festival is in its ninth year of bringing high-quality independent films to Geneva, Illinois, and the Fox Valley community. The festival is Thursday March 10, through Saturday, March 12.

Ticket cost is $10 per block and each block can include multiple films within the time slot.

This year, ticket sales have been limited to ensure good seating for everyone. In 2015, there were sellout crowds so buy tickets in advance if possible.

Plan your viewing schedule in advance at Show times, descriptions and ratings are provided. There is something for everyone at the Geneva Film Festival.

The film categories are: narrative features, narrative shorts, documentary features, documentary shorts, animated features, animated shorts, and student shorts. Films submissions are juried and only high-quality films are selected. 1. This year, thirty-seven films from 12 countries were accepted from more than 100 submissions across 20 countries.

Geneva Film Festival Director Scott Rolf says, “This annual event has experienced phenomenal growth in the past three years and continues to attract an enthusiastic audience. We have added an additional screen to meet the demand so everyone has an opportunity to see this year’s selections. The show times begin in the early evening, making it easy to attend after work. We try to select films that have general appeal for the audience yet still have that creative edge that is the hallmark of an excellent film festival submission.”

The final day of the festival features breakout sessions with filmmakers to discuss their films and there is a wrap party following the last showing.

The Geneva Film Festival is a unique experience that attracts repeat audiences year-over-year. If you have not attended a film festival before, this one is for you. Downtown Geneva provides a comfortable atmosphere and amenities that add significantly to the festival experience. Many volunteers, local businesses, and the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission support the festival and make this enjoyable event possible.
