Downtown Batavia is made up of an eclectic mix of restaurants, retailers and service businesses. Many of these businesses are owned and managed locally. What does this mean for downtown Batavia and our community as a whole?
Locally owned businesses help build our community by growing a vibrant downtown and linking neighbors through economic and social relationships. Local ownership ensures that business decisions are made locally by people who live in the community and who will feel the impacts of those decisions. This means an increased partnership with local causes and organizations. Activity by multiple local businesses working together helps to create the welcoming character we enjoy here in Batavia.
Communities that embrace their one-of-a-kind and distinctive businesses have an economic advantage. Our downtown no longer appears to be just any downtown across Mid-America but a distinctive destination filled with unique businesses and local character. Spendingyour dollars and time locally makes the whole area alive and vibrant.
Our local dollars are especially important at Christmas because so many businesses count on the extra sales and business activity during the season. Tapping into the spirit of the holidays is also a great excuse to be kinder, spend more locally, and act more responsibly. Don’t let the cold and snow keep you away from supporting our downtown businesses this winter. These are our friends and neighbors. Let’s support them all year.
