“Born to Read” is a partnership program of Batavia Public Library, Batavia Public School District #101, and Barnes & Noble Booksellers. Babies born to parents who live in Batavia are eligible to receive a free book bag containing books for baby and early literacy information for parents. The bags are available in English and Spanish. The program is sponsored by local organizations, businesses, and individuals like you.
“Born to Read” now has its own Facebook page. Please “Like” Born to Read of Batavia, IL, to learn more about early literacy and how books benefit babies. Share the page with new and expectant Batavia parents. “Born to Read” book bags also are available for purchase at the Check Out Desk. They make great baby shower and new baby gifts!
This holiday season you can help support the Library’s “Born to Read” early literacy program by purchasing one of seven baby books at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Geneva Commons. When you go to the register, Barnes & Noble Booksellers cashiers will ask if you would like to “purchase a book to support literacy.” If you purchase any of these books:
· Touch and Feel Baby Animals;
· Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed;
· The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear;
· Read to Your Bunny;
· My First Mother Goose;
· My First Word Board Book;
· Where’s Spot
they will be given to the Library to be included in the “Born to Read” book bags. Please purchase these titles by Dec. 31.
