Explore Downtown St. Charles to Find Local Chair Art

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership (DSCP) has coordinated a “Chair-ity” event  that has placed decorated Adirondack Style Chairs throughout downtown St. Charles for the summer. The chairs have been placed throughout downtown to try and get more people to visit and enjoy St. Charles.

The DSCP encouraged businesses, community groups and artist to create imaginative and unique works of art appropriate for public display. The entries range from Girl Scout troops, High School Classes, downtown businesses and local artist alike.

The DSCP has worked with ACE Hardware of St. Charles who provided a discounted price $39.99, making it an affordable option for everyone to get involved.  

There is also an online auction that went live on June 1. Each chair has a tag on it to indicate if it is up for auction or not. The tags have numbers that correlate with the online auction website. The website for the auction is

People can bid on their favorite chairs and if they win, can take home the chair at the conclusion of the event over Labor Day weekend. All proceeds for the auction will go back into downtown beatification efforts and will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
